1. ARE THE PRODUCTS WE USE SAFE?
All products used by E.P.C have been approved by Health Canada. Environmental Pest Control has always been committed to achieving 100% customer satisfaction - Always delivering safe and effective pest management solutions. Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) is the federal agency responsible for the regulation of pest control products in Canada. All pesticide products are highly regulated at all levels of government.
2. WHAT DOES THE PMRA DO?
By seeking to minimize the risks associated with pesticides, the PMRA helps protect human health, safety and the environment. Before a pesticide is considered for registration in Canada, it must undergo extensive testing to determine the potential risks posed to human health and the environment. The PMRA carefully reviews all the data submitted (including the raw data) to determine if the product is acceptable for use in Canada, and cross-checks between studies as an additional measure of validation of the final decisions. The Agency may also compare its results with regulatory counterparts in other countries such as the U.S. and members of the European Union, to ensure that similar conclusions are drawn from the evaluations.
3. CAN I WASH MY WINDOWS AFTER A TREATMENT?
When treating the exterior of a structure, our intent is not to get any product on the windows. Our specialized equipment minimizes drift, but over spray can still occur. Exterior windows can be cleaned anytime after the application. Regular window washing will easily remove any film or spotting. It is best to schedule your window washing after your application. For interior windows it is recommended not to wash for 2-3 weeks. If you must wash the windows sooner, ledges should be avoided. This will leave adequate residual to control any interior pest activity.
4. DO I NEED TO LEAVE THE HOUSE?
Depending on the program, you may not have to leave the premises. If we are conducting interior applications we ask that you leave for a few hours. Infants, seniors, and people with asthma or high sensitivities may choose to leave for longer periods. Our technicians will let you know if there are any special instructions, or you can call our office at anytime with your questions.
5. WE JUST HAD OUR HOUSE TREATED AND THERE IS STILL SOME ACTIVITY.
Depending on the program and your particular structure, control is not always immediate. Our products have residuals and continue to work for long periods. This residual reduces the pest population. The products do their best work in the evenings or on cooler days. On hot and warm fall days, activity around your home may be abundant. As evening approaches and insects seek out places to hide, the product then does its best work. A simple test to show the products effectiveness would be to conduct an exterior inspection after a high activity day. Look for dead insects around the base of your home or near the foundation.
6. WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS?
Rain can be a factor when conducting our exterior applications. If our product has enough time to dry, it has excellent adhering characteristics, which prevents it from washing off during rain. Our typical applications are directed to cracks, crevices, under eves, soffits and other areas where rain does not reach. Most structures have significant overhangs, which also protect our products from the elements. All these factors combined with new technology give our products adequate opportunity to control the specific pests on your program.
