MOSQUITO CONTROL PROGRAM FAQ

1. DOES THE SERVICE KILL ALL MOSQUITOES ON MY PROPERTY?

100% protection from every mosquito is not possible with any service, but tremendous relief from mosquitoes is possible with a quality mosquito control program. Our mosquito control solution includes natural and conventional products that provide:

• Immediate knockdown to any adult mosquitoes that come in direct contact upon application.
• An effective mosquito repellent to help keep adult mosquitoes away.
• Lasting residual control to help eliminate other adult mosquitoes that come into contact with it.

2. CAN MY KIDS OR PETS PLAY IN THE YARD DURING A TREATMENT?

During the actual treatment and until the treatment fully dries, people and pets should keep way. Upon drying, 1 hour later, it will not rub off on clothing, skin or fur if contact is made with any treated areas.

3. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO APPLY THE TREATMENT AND HOW OFTEN ARE TREATMENTS NEEDED?

The length of time depends on the size and layout of your property as well as the density of trees and shrubs. It typically takes 1 to 1.5 hours to treat a single acre. For the mosquito control program to be effective during mosquito season, 4 to 5 treatments are needed, spaced every 3 to 4 weeks between May and August.

4. HOW MUCH DOES YOUR MOSQUITO CONTROL PROGRAM COST?

Our mosquito control program is fully customized to your unique property. Pricing is impacted by property size and the location and density of trees and bushes. Just because you have a 5-acre lot, does not mean that all 5 acres need to be treated to create an effective mosquito barrier. Please call our office for a free quote. We do not always need to visit a property to provide an accurate quote, but there will be times where we will need to visit a property in person.

5. DO YOU OFFER A GUARANTEE?

Yes! If you are not satisfied with the mosquito reduction after treatment, please call the office so that arrangements can be made for us to return to complete another treatment at no added cost to you.

6. CAN I GET A SINGLE TREATMENT FOR AN OUTDOOR EVENT?

Of course! For best results, the treatment should be applied ideally 1 to 2 days before or up to 3-4 hours before a special event begins.

7. DO YOU TREAT THE GRASS?

In single applications for outdoor events we may treat grass, particularly longer standing grass. To effectively create a barrier around your property to keep mosquitoes out and away, we focus on treating trees, shrubs, and bushes, paying special attention to naturally damp foliage and the undersides of leaves which is where mosquitos shelter on hot sunny days.

8. WHAT PRODUCTS DO YOU USE AND ARE THEY SAFE FOR PEOPLE, PETS AND THE ENVIRONMENT?

We use a natural product and a conventional product in our mosquito control treatment. The natural product is a garlic-based repellent. The conventional product is pyrethroid-based. Both products are approved by Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) and are safe for people and pets. The natural garlic-based repellent is 100% environmentally-safe.

9. DO THE PRODUCTS YOU USE SMELL BAD?

Both products do emit a smell during application. The smell dissipates a few hours after the treatment has been applied and dries completely.

10. HOW DOES THE RAIN IMPACT TREATMENT?

Treatments are done on dry, sunny days however Mother Nature sometimes has other plans. Under normal or typical rain conditions, if the treatment has had a chance to dry before the rain comes, the application will be effective in creating a barrier around your yard.

11. DO I HAVE TO BE HOME FOR THE MOSQUITO CONTROL TREATMENT TREATMENTS?

No, you do not need to be home, and you may want to leave before the treatment begins to avoid being cooped up indoors for the duration of the treatment, which can take hours depending on the property size. If you will not be home, please ensure your pets are indoors and that the gate to your yard is unlocked. If a key or passcode is needed to access your property do let us know in advance, and our licensed mosquito control expert will happily make arrangements to obtain either from you. Once we have completed the treatment we will leave a notice sign in your yard, so you’ll know we were there.
